His essay called “What’s in a Name?” in one of the anthologies I used to teach (Patterns for College Writing” sent me on a journey researching the importance of names and naming in African American culture, among slaves and freed slaves and African culture…then onto other naming traditions and lore…He’s fascinating and inspiring! I just saw Cornel West @ VT, another great spirit!
